DALLAS, TX (February 19, 2018) — Sendero Principal Eric McConnell and Manager Staci Thetford have been selected to receive the 2018 Community First Award: Sponsored by Parkland Foundation. This award recognizes exceptional young civic-minded leaders who have impacted Dallas County through their work in the community.

McConnell is an active volunteer with numerous organizations in the greater Dallas area. Starting with Junior Achievement, Fort Worth Chorale of Schola Cantorum through First Tee of Dallas and now Chase’s Place and Business Council for the Arts, he has supported multiple organizations to throughout his career. His participation in these organizations has set the foundation for the future commitment and service he plans for Dallas and beyond.

“This award is such an unbelievable honor; especially to be a part of the inaugural group to receive this award from the foundation,” said McConnell. “I am so excited to collaborate, learn, and develop with other local civic minded young professionals this year because of this great award.”

Thetford is a Board member for Books are the Beginning, an education non-profit with the mission to promote literacy in impoverished communities and has worked with BATB to sponsor 10 DISD schools in East, West and South Dallas. “To receive the Community First Award from the Parkland Foundation and to have been nominated by my peers at the Junior League of Dallas is an honor and I am sincerely grateful,” said Thetford. “I look forward to being a part of this group of community leaders and seeing how we can learn from each other’s experiences to greater impact the Dallas community.”
